Artist Statement
My current art practice began in the kitchen with molten wax and frozen water balloons, frothy pillow flocking arranged on stemware, tissues hovering on filament, pearlescent buttons pinned to the walls. These fragile, ephemeral experiments are obsessively imaged and drawn. The images leap out of their intimate domestic context into mutable landscapes of indeterminate scale.
A parallel body of work consists of drawings, maps and photos of ice formations and water currents, lichens and diatoms and a proposal for biopolymer rafts to bridge gaps in the retreating ice cover of the Arctic.
Another thread connects works in unfolded clear bean threads to loosely draped wood veneer, collapsing, entangled, incidental, “found” lines and contours. It is the undoing of architecture yet at the same time there are spatial and temporal structures that are recorded in a series of blind drawings and paper cut works.
